Brighton Food News

I like to keep my ear close to the ground when it comes to Brighton food news. So pop by here to find out all the latest news on the upcoming and newly launched Brighton restaurants, cafes and pop-ups and supper clubs. Occasionally I also like to post interviews with the top chefs in Brighton too.

  • So here we are in March already! The start of the year has practically flown by and I think that’s partly to do with how much the Brighton food scene is thriving right now. There are several exciting new openings on the horizon including etch. from Stephen Edwards on Church Road in Hove, Pascere from Tom Griffiths and Amanda Menahem in The Lanes and Pike & Pine from Matt Gillan on St James’ Street (watch this space for my reviews).

  • Last night the atmosphere was electric as the movers, shakers and culinary elite of Brighton’s food scene packed into Brewdog for the second annual Brighton’s Best Top 20 Restaurants Awards. As I scoured the room I was honoured to be amongst such esteemed company and memories came flooding back of all the wonderful meals, exquisite cocktails and friendly service I have received from many of them in the last 12 months.

  • One of Brighton’s favourite and most established Indian restaurants is expanding its empire. Curry Leaf Cafe has been catering for Brightonian’s from its Ship Street location since April 2014 and just last week it opened another new restaurant in Kemptown.

  • This weekend Venetian-themed restaurant, POLPO Brighton, launches ‘Spritz Saturday’; a cocktail masterclass that invites you to step behind the bar and learn how to create three of POLPO’s signature cocktails.

  • As the inaugural OctoberBEST draws to a close, you’re probably planning to buckle down and pause on extravagant dining-out habits until closer to Christmas. But let’s face it, that’s no fun at all. Lucky then, there’s a new iPhone app, which curates the best weekly food & drink offers, foodie events and pop-ups in Brighton & Hove (and London) for you.

  • The locally-run, Brighton Food Tours, is introducing a special Christmas shopping version of their five-star-rated Brighton food tour, to help you tackle the present buying mission in one hit! The Christmas edition of the tour will run between the 18th November and 22nd December and include festive tastings, tipples and exclusive discounts on Christmas food and presents across a plethora of inde food and drink retailers in Brighton.

  • This Autumn sees the launch of OctoberBEST, a foodie festival with the city’s best independent restaurants at its core. Between the 17th and 30th October, each of the top 20 restaurants in Brighton, as voted for by a panel of chefs, critiques and influencers, (including *ahem* me), will offer diners a taste of their most delectable dishes, with a special £20 menu each with its own unique twist.

  • It’s a bank holiday weekend and come rain, or hopefully, shine, they’ll be an epic 3-day feast on Hove Lawns, thanks to Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival. So treat your taste buds to a variety of delicious dishes at the Sussex & The World Weekend and head down this weekend.
