Brighton Food Tours launches new Brighton wine tour

I have some exciting news for all you wine lovers out there… the fabulous, five-star rated Brighton Food Tours has paired up with rebel sommeliers, Xavier Buendia and Radka Junova, to launch a walking wine tour of Brighton.

The Brighton Wine Rebellion Tour launches this September and promises to make wine tasting more fun and less snooty – cheers to that! The tour will include six wine stops at surprise locations, with delicious foodie tastings to go alongside. Angela Brightwell, co-owner and founder of Brighton Food Tours, says:

“We’re so excited to be introducing a third tour to our collection. Like our V.I.B Tour and our Drinks Brighton Tour, The Brighton Wine Tour will be about showcasing the very best of Brighton’s independent food and drink scene. What’s particularly exciting is we’re working with two very experienced wine sommeliers that really know the food and drink scene here in Brighton. Whether you’re a total wine novice, an enthusiastic amateur, a wine snob or fancy yourself as a bit of an expert, we have something for everyone.”

Back in July, I was invited to a trial run of the wine tour and even unpolished it impressed me. Unlike many other wine tastings I’ve been to, where you’re given a basket of bread and a few chunks of cheese, five out of six stops on the wine tour provided a snack-size portion of what could be a starter from the menu. Plus, almost all the stops brought out more than one snack and wine tasting too, earning the £65 ticket price.

One particular highlight from the wine tour was being the first to try a special first release Blanc de Blancs from Albourne Estate in Sussex. Made from their inaugural harvest in 2013 this English fizz has been produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes using the highest quality Cuvee press cut and aged ‘on-lees’ for three years. The best way to describe it is summer in a glass!

If you like the sound of discovering new wines and new restaurants in Brighton, as well enjoying a relaxed, unpretentious education in wine, I recommend you book on to the tour fast. Places are limited to just 8 people each month, with the first tour starting on the 23rd September. Alternatively, book a ticket for a friend or family member as a novel Christmas/birthday gift.
