The Italian food Brighton has been pining for
I have some exciting news for all you lovers of authentic, Italian cuisine (that’s everyone right?). A new Italian bar and kitchen will open on Vine Street in the North Laine tomorrow and it’s seriously going to raise the bar for Italian food in Brighton.
Authentic, seasonal Italian food
Cin Cin (which means cheers in Italian) will deliver authentic Italian antipasti and fresh pasta made on site daily via its open kitchen and counter bar. Daily specials from seasonal Italian and English ingredients will also be available, alongside an entirely Italian wine list and all Italian beers and aperitifs.
I attended the press night on Friday evening and had the pleasure of tucking into a selection of the seasonal specials, which were tantalisingly good. Two dishes particularly stood out for me and my guest; the first was the vibrant and fresh, Citrus Cured Monkfish, Heritage Tomato, Tapenade – so juicy my mouth began salivating from the moment the food touched my tongue. Second to impress was the Mushroom Arancini (risotto ball) with a light and perfectly crisp breadcrumb coating.
From a food truck to permanent residency
The team behind Cin Cin is an all-male trio with Founder – David Toscano, Assistant General Manager – Fabrizio Manconi and Head Chef – Jamie Halsall working in partnership together. David started out back in 2013, with a beautiful 70s vintage Fiat van, serving Italian cured meats, cheese and of course Prosecco at street food events, festivals, fairs, weddings and then branching into supper clubs. Cutting his foodie teeth with these ventures he’s now taken the leap and invested in a permanent residency in Brighton.
We have been everywhere with our van and supper clubs, a bit like the tortoise with his house on our back! It’s been great fun and a real learning experience, giving me the confidence to give up my city lawyer job and really go for it. This has always been the key goal, to give Brighton the Italian food & drink it truly deserves and we hope we can deliver that at Vine Street – David Toscano
From what I saw at the press launch, I really believe Cin Cin will go down a treat but just to be sure I’ll popping along as soon as they’re open to try out more of the menu and report back in a full review. So stayed tuned.

Cin Cin’s Italian Bar & Kitchen will open on Tuesday 1st November. The bar & kitchen is open 5 days a week, Tuesday-Saturday – 12pm -10pm.
