• In the ever-growing market of gourmet burgers, one name I keep hearing as a must-try is The Troll’s Pantry. Now a resident at the Hobgoblin pub on York Place it has grown from its early days as a small pop-up trailer behind Brighton University.

  • Hidden behind a floor-length curtain in the most unexpected of places, Le Parker Meridien Hotel on 56th St, is a bijou spot called Burger Joint. You can very easily miss it if you’re not certain it’s there (and I wasn’t when I went looking for it way back in 2010).

  • Burgers and chips are a food item, which will always suffer slightly when delivered rather than eaten immediately after cooking. Despite the inevitable slight loss of temperature, the triple cooked chips (how did we ever tolerate chips that were only cooked once?) were still crisp.
