Hot off the press: The Ivy is opening in Brighton in 3 weeks time…
Following the refurbishment of the Old Post Office on Ship Street in Brighton, The Ivy in The Lanes will open its doors to the public on Wednesday 2nd May 2018.
The brasserie is slap-bang in the middle of the bustling south lanes (opposite Steamer Trading) in a grade II listed building and will offer all-day dining, seven days a week and cocktails.
I, like most of you, have heard numerous things about The Ivy (not all good) but I’ve never been to one, so I did a little research and discovered there are 24 in ‘The Collection’ across England and Scotland.
They position themselves as an upmarket but casual spin off from the original restaurant in Covent Garden, London – managed separately from the group and renowned for celebrity fans.
Since photos inside have not yet been released, here are examples from the restaurants in the rest of the group to give you an idea of what’s to come.
According to the Executive Chef, Sean Burbidge – Michelin star awarded & previously Head Chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus in London – The Ivy Collection is all about classic dishes, combined with international influences and little twists, as well traditional and contemporary bespoke cocktails.
Creations such as a Candy Floss Fizz, incorporating prosecco, rosé, lychee, ginger & Havana 3-year-old rum, and a Pavilion Passion, with fresh passion fruit shaken with vanilla infused Wyborowa vodka, finished with flaming rum in a passion fruit shell will be signatures.
Inside The Brighton Ivy you can expect a stylish and sophisticated feel – but with a unique twist for Brighton – featuring Brighton-inspired artwork, set against a backdrop of leather banquettes, a striking onyx bar and pendant lighting.
Reservations are now being taken, so if you’re eager to get in there and see how decadent it is, I would book a table sharpish, before everyone else does!
